***COMING SOON***
Watch out for my new arrangements of Classic Jazz and Pop tunes - These will be a little more expensive due to the cost of Royalties but will still offer great value. Let me know if you have a favourite tune you'd like to see arranged.....
*****NEW*****
Hillbilly Horns- Horn section feature
Here's a little bit of Country and Western Style fun. Written as a horn trio but with back up from flugel and baritones so you can feature as many of the "middle section" as you want. Comfortable ranges and only one tricky bit of finger work. Will work well as a 10 piece. Drums are a bonus but will work without a drummer too. Horn parts and Mp3 here
*****NEW*****
The Water is Wide - Traditional
You may already be familiar with this Folk Tune but although this starts in a traditional style in doesn't stay that way for long. A nice section where you can get your back row to stand and take the tune (also in Solos). Will work well as a 10 piece. Drums are a bonus but will work without a drummer too. Score and Mp3 here
*****NEW*****
Mexican Wave - Traditional
An easy feature for your cornet section or front row. Based on the "Mexican Hat Dance" over a bottom end "riff" this can really swing. Very easy to put together but requires a bit of style to pull it off sucessfully. 3 Solo cornet parts (Sop doubles 1st Solo) and no back row so you can feature the whole section if you want. Will work well as a 10 piece. Drums are a bonus but will work without a drummer too. Score and Mp3 here
*****NEW*****
Danse Macabre - Camille Saint Saens
At last an arrangement of this great piece which is accessible to lower section bands. You need capable players on solo cornet, solo horn and euphonium and everyone works hard (your top cornet may need a lie-down after!!) but this should still be performable by your band. Percussion, especially timps and xylophone are desirable but not necessary. 8 mins. Score here Mp3 here (large file - please be patient).
*****NEW*****
Stradella (Overture) - Flotow
A new arrangement of this classic overture. Playable by most bands it starts with a lovely melody in the middle of the band (well cued). Great for those traditional bandstand concerts. 7 mins. Score here Mp3 here (large file - please be patient).
*****NEW*****
The White Queen (Overture) - Olivier Metra
A new arrangement of this little known overture. Playable by most bands it will make an interesting alternative to the usual "pot-boilers". Ideal for those traditional bandstand concerts. 6 mins. Score here Mp3 here (large file - please be patient).

Swanee River - Stephen Foster (Trombone Trio)
This famous tune has been arranged as a Trombone Trio. Comfortable ranges and a laid back tempo mean your soloists can concentrate on a stylish performance. If you don't have a full Trombone section the Euphonium has the bass Trombone part cued. Would also work well with a combination of Euphs & Baritones. Works well for smaller bands and percussion is not essential. Take a look at the score and Mp3 here .
Arioso - J.S. Bach (Cornet Solo)
A beautiful Bach melody arranged here as a Cornet Solo with a light "pop" feel. It will also work for Euph/Bari/Tromb. Works well for smaller bands and percussion is not essential. Take a look at the score and Mp3 here .
A New Dawn - Bb Solo (Cornet/Flugel/Euph etc.)
An easy solo similar in style to Another Day, which I know many of you enjoy.
I would say it is about grade 5 standard and is a good opportunity to feature a younger player although, of course, even easier music benefits from being played by a really good player - so don't hold your Principal back !!!!
Written for Cornet/Flugel but should also work as a baritone/euphonium solo.
I am preparing a seperate version for Eb Horn (keeping the soloist in the same key).

Amazing Grace - Jazzy arrangement - A new arrangement of an old favourite. The slow introduction features a quartet of Horn, Trombone, Euphonium and Bass (well cross-cued). The trombones then take it up-tempo with a swing/boogie feel. Horns and Baritones get to play a jazzy version of the tune in unison. Cornets then play a "shout chorus" before all the elements are brought together. The piece ends with a short bluesy section. Quick and easy to put together and should be fun to play. Needs at least 2 Trombones (or a Baritone covering 2nd Trombone). View Horn Part View Score Listen to Mp3
Another Day - Cornet Solo (can also be used for Flugel/Euph/Tromb.) The range of the solo part is mainly "in the stave" optional notes are written where the music goes higher. Rhythmic and lyrical.

Averina - Trombone Solo
A fairly easy trombone solo in a "smooth latin" style. Get your trombone soloist to explore alternative positions to get a real smooth sound.
Needs a confident player and the top note is an "A" above the stave (in treble clef). I would say it is about grade 5 standard.
Would also work as a baritone/euphonium solo - probably even as a cornet/flugel solo and if you want to give it a try, I'll supply an Eb part for solo horn.

Blades Away - March. (Pun Intended). A 6/8 March, commissioned by The Northallerton Silver Band and dedicated to Cllr. David Blades. The opening phrase pays tribute to Holzmann's famous march.

British Grenadiers
If you're fed up with playing "Floral Dance" try this new arrangement of the well known folk tune The British Grenadiers.
Written, tongue firmly in cheek and with apologies to Mr D. B. this will be a firm favourite of both band and audiences.
Easy and fun to play it is suitable for bands of all standards. if you don't have a drummer start at the upbeat to A and it'll still swing along nicely.
Calypso Christmas
We Wish You A Merry Christmas to a Calypso beat - very popular with my Band and Audiences last Christmas. Use some latin percussion and sleigh bells for full effect - why not hand them out to the audience. Drummer not essential. Also available as a quintet. Listen to Mp3 View Solo Cornet Part
Celebration
A new composition which would make a great opener for your Concert. Using "modern" (ie. of the last 30 years !!) Brass Band harmonies and strong rhythms this is a contrast to Andy's other works. The changes in time signatures flow quite naturally and add to the interest. Should work for smaller Bands and percussion (although desirable) is not essential. Take a look at the score here . Elsa's Procession to the Minster - Wagner
If you've tried the "Standard Arrangement" of this you'll realise what a hard blow it is. This new arrangement is in a lower key and much easier for players with limited range and stamina (that's most of us!!). A confident Soprano player is a bonus although the Soprano part stays in range if you have a Bb with a secure top register. A BIG finish to your programme.
The Grand Old Duke
Another "Classy" arrangement of a familiar tune. Guaranteed toe-tapper that gives most of the band at go at the tune and won't use up too much rehearsal time. You can even choreograph it if you like (post your effors on Youtube and I'll give a prize for the best). Will work for smaller bands and percussion is not essential. Take a look at the score here . Hallelujah Chorus
Down a third from the original - this makes it much easier for most Bands to play but beware if you plan to join forces with your local Choral Society - although the Sopranos and Tenors may think they've suddenly improved !!!
Playable by most Bands and makes a good item for your Christmas Concert.

March of The Toreadors from Carmen
A new arrangement which makes a good encore for your Concert (get the audience clapping along at the end). Comfortable range even for the end of the evening. Should work for smaller Bands and percussion (although desirable) is not essential. Take a look at the score here . Click here for an Mp3
Monday Feeling - Eb Horn Solo (opt. Flugel Solo) About Grade 5 standard, the Eb Horn Solo has a couple of high "As" but otherwise is in a comfortable register. The Flugel part goes down to low "Bb". The Band accompaniment is fully scored and you may wish to lighten it a little. Rhythmic music which works without Drums.
Nessun Dorma - Pavarotti Tribute
A new arrangement of this popular Aria which gives most of the Band at least a bit of the tune. Should work well with smaller Bands and doesn't push anyone too hard although the Solo Horn part is quite tricky. Optional Drum Kit part so that it can be played straight or "Pop-it-up".
A Concert Winner. View Solo Cornet Part Listen to Mp3
Northallerton - March. Another commission from The Northallerton Silver Band. An easy to play and easy to listen to march.
Procession of the Nobles - Rimsky-Korsakov
This is a new arrangement of this popular piece aimed at Lower Section Bands. It is still quite hard work for the Solo Cornets and the Solo Horn is kept busy too but should be manageable by most Bands.
Much of the top line in the Solo Cornets is doubled by Soprano so your front bench can relax a bit if you have a good Sop. Ideal finish to a first half of a Concert, this makes a BIG sound even if you have a few inner parts missing. Percussion is not essential. View Solo Cornet Part
Royal Osborne.
Dedicated to the Cowes Concert Band who have their home in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, close too Osborne House, home of Queen Victoria. A traditional style march that isn't too hard work for your cornet players and shares the tunes around the Band. View Solo Cornet Part Listen here.
Rylstone - March. A Traditional style march which doesn't wear your Cornet Players out and gives a bit of tune to the "middle" of the Band.
If you're on holiday on the Isle of Wight, vist Rylstone Gardens in Shanklin and if you're lucky you might even catch a Concert on the Bandstand.
